Aberfeldy 12 Year Old is a lightly peated Highland single malt, matured for 12 years in bourbon casks and bottled at 40% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
Almost a third of each cask is lost to evaporation before the whisky is ready to bottle.
The nose is creamy, with some sherried fruit, prune, custard and espresso bean, and a trailing hint of smoke. The palate is sweet and malty with a gentle peat and a very clean mouthfeel, alongside vanilla, peaches in cream and subtle oak. The finish brings ginger, malt, nutty nougat and perhaps a little grapefruit zest.
