Aberfeldy 12 Year Old is a Highland single malt from Aberfeldy Distillery in Perthshire, built by John Dewar and Sons in 1896 beside the Pitilie Burn. It is bottled at 40% (80 proof) in a 750ml bottle and nicknamed The Golden Dram.
The whisky is matured for twelve years in oak casks, mainly American oak ex-bourbon barrels with some sherry and refill casks.
The nose is heather honey, vanilla and soft toffee, with citrus peel, honeyed fruit and a whisper of smoke. The palate is smooth and mellow, with honey, malt, ripe orchard fruit, fudge, custard and light oak. The finish is medium, with honeyed sweetness, soft malt, ginger and a faint trace of smoke.
