Aberfeldy 12 Year Old is the flagship Highland single malt from Aberfeldy Distillery in Perthshire, bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle. The distillery is known as The Golden Dram, after the alluvial gold once found in the nearby Pitilie Burn.
The whisky is matured in a combination of bourbon, sherry, refill and re-char casks.
The nose has heather honey, vanilla and soft toffee, with citrus peel and a whisper of smoke. The palate is smooth and mellow, with honey, malt, orchard fruits, fudge and custard. The finish is medium in length, with honeyed sweetness, soft malt, ginger and a faint wisp of smoke.
