Aberfeldy 16 Year Old is a Highland single malt in a 70cl bottle, bottled at 40%. It was matured in a mix of first-fill, refill and re-char bourbon casks, then finished for six months in first-fill Oloroso sherry casks.
The sherry finish adds fruitcake and warm spice to the honeyed Highland style of Aberfeldy, a distillery known as The Golden Dram.
The nose opens with honey and citrus peel, followed by sherried fruitcake and dried fruits, with cloves and dark chocolate appearing later. The palate is silky, with honey, citrus, cloves and toffee. The finish is long and warming, with chocolate, dried fruit and gentle oak spice.
