Aberfeldy 16 Year Old is a Highland single malt from The Last Great Malts series, bottled at 40%. It matured in first-fill, refill and re-charred bourbon casks, then spent six months in first-fill Oloroso sherry casks.
The extra time and the finish build on the honeyed, fruity distillery style with sherried fruit cake and dark chocolate.
Honey, citrus and cloves lead the nose, with vanilla, dried fruit and a touch of sherry. The palate is full and soft, with fruit cake, dark chocolate and spice. The finish is long and warming, with chocolate, dried fruit and honey fading into gentle oak spice.
