Aberfeldy – 16 Year Old (70cl, 40%)

This is a 16 year old Highland single malt from Aberfeldy, bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle. It was released by John Dewar & Sons in November 2015. The whisky is finished entirely in Oloroso sherry casks, which add a more pronounced sherry character with dried fruit and spice. Aberfeldy was built by the Dewar family in 1898 and is one of a handful of distilleries remaining in Perthshire. Its fermentation runs for 70 hours. The nose offers honey, citrus and spicy cloves. The palate is full and sherried like fruitcake, followed by touches of dark chocolate.
