Aberfeldy – 2013 13 Year Old Strictly Limited (Càrn Mòr) (49.2%)

This is a 13 year old Highland single malt from Aberfeldy, bottled independently by Càrn Mòr for its Strictly Limited collection. It was distilled in 2013 and matured for its whole life in red wine casks, rather than given a short wine finish. Bottling strength is 49.2% ABV, and 598 bottles were produced. The red wine casks give the whisky a fruit-forward character alongside the distillery's honeyed sweetness. Expect red berries, stewed plums and plum jam, with golden honey, buttery biscuits and ripe summer fruits. Gentle oak spice sits in the background, and the finish is pleasantly drying.
