This is Aberfeldy 9 Year Old from the Exceptional Cask Series, a single cask from the 2014 vintage, bottled in 2023 at 59.7% ABV. Only 1,152 bottles were produced.
The whisky was first matured in bourbon, then finished in new Scottish oak casks from Speyside. It is the first time Aberfeldy has released a whisky with this finish.
The nose is sweet vanilla. On the palate come cinnamon spice, orchard fruits, ripe pear and boiled butterscotch, leading to a lingering spicy finish.
