A 1 litre bottle of Aberlour 100 Proof, a Speyside single malt matured in sherry casks and bottled at 57.1% ABV. The 100 Proof refers to the old British measure, not American proof. The label shows the Aberlour townhouse.
Aberlour is generally known for gentler spirits, and this is a full-strength version of the 1990s 100 Proof bottling.
The nose has a little shoe polish, with cakes and oranges; water brings out sherry, walnuts and lighter pipe tobacco. The palate is rich and malty, with cake and orange over sherried oak. The finish is long, sweet and malty.
