Stronachie 10 Year Old is a Highland single malt from AD Rattray, bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle. It revives the name of Stronachie, a Perthshire distillery built in the 1890s by Alexander & MacDonald and closed in 1928.
The spirit comes from Benrinnes Distillery and was matured exclusively in bourbon casks. It was chosen to recreate Stronachie's delicate style after a sample from an original 1904 bottle was tasted and compared with other Highland malts.
Straw gold in colour, it has a nose of soft honey, earthy heather and malty sweetness. The palate is smooth, with honey and biscuits followed by lingering pepper and cereal notes.
