This is a three-year-old peated single malt from Akkeshi Distillery in Hokkaido, Japan, bottled independently by Adelphi. It was distilled in 2018 and matured in a first-fill bourbon barrel.
It comes from a single cask, #1004, which gave 265 bottles at a natural cask strength of 57.7% ABV.
The nose has warming wood smoke with vanilla, crisp apple and pear. On the palate black and white pepper and barbecue notes sit over vanilla sweetness and orchard fruit. The finish is long and smoky, with persistent peat and peppery warmth.
