Ærø Whisky – Local Oak Single Cask (50cl, 60%)

A single cask whisky from Ærø Whisky, matured in a cask made from oak from the old oak tree at Nørregade 25 in Ærøskøbing. The barley is grown on Ærø and malted at the distillery's own maltings. It was bottled on 8 September 2021 at 60% ABV, in a run of 17 bottles, and is at least three years old. The colour comes naturally from the cask and the whisky is not chill-filtered, with only light mechanical filtering. The hard water of Ærøskøbing means a slight haze can occasionally appear in the bottle. The tasting notes mention vanilla, coconut, apricot and cinnamon.
