Akashi Blended is a Japanese blended whisky made at the Eigashima White Oak distillery, about 30 kilometres west of Kobe, where the nearby sea has a strong influence on the climate. The Akashi brand was created in 2007 by Mikio Hiraishi.
The blend is 30% malted barley whisky and 70% grain whisky, and it is aged in Bourbon casks.
On the nose it shows oak and vanilla, with woody and spicy notes joining on the palate. It is smooth and round, and works well in a highball.
