Akashi Red Wine Cask 5 Year Old (50%)

Akashi Red Wine Cask is a 5 year old single malt from the Eigashima distillery in Japan, bottled at 50% as a limited edition. It is a vatting of single malts chosen by the house's chief blender. The whisky spent four and a half years in ex-cognac casks, then ten months in French red wine casks, which give it an amber-pink colour. The character is powerful in red fruit, with woody and floral notes in the background.
