Akashi Single Malt is a Japanese single malt from the Eigashima distillery, bottled at 46% in a 50cl bottle. It marries whiskies matured in bourbon and sherry casks, and it is non-chill-filtered with no added colour.
The distillery stands in the town of Akashi in Hyogo prefecture, on the Seto Inland Sea. The company grew out of sake making and was founded in 1888, with a whisky distillery added in 1984.
The nose has malt and soft fruit with chamomile, sherry and sweet wood. The palate is round, with butter and vanilla, spice and dark chocolate, and a restrained touch of peat. The finish is gently sweet, with wood and vanilla.
