Akashi Sommelier Series Pinot Noir Wine Cask Finish Single Malt Whisky (75cl)

This is a Japanese single malt from Eigashima, the distillery behind Akashi, and the second release in the Tokiwa Imports Sommelier Series. It was selected by Master Sommelier Kenneth Fredrickson. The whisky is four years old. It was first aged in ex-bourbon barrels, then finished for 18 months in two Pinot Noir casks of French oak from a winery in Lompoc, California. Only 500 bottles were filled. The nose is malty with red fruits and floral notes. The palate is rich with soft edges, baking spice and leather, followed by a long finish.
