AnCnoc 12 Year Old is a single malt from Knockdhu distillery, which took the anCnoc name for its whiskies to avoid being mistaken for the nearby Knockando. It is bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle.
The style is gentle and non-sherried, so the character comes from the barley and the oak rather than from sweet wine casks.
The nose is aromatic and fairly robust, with honeysuckle, fresh flowers, cereals and barley. The palate is medium in weight with good sweetness, bringing Madeira, winter spices, mocha, Crème de Cacao, herbal hints and toasted granary bread. The finish is of medium length, with oak and barley working well together.
