Angus McKay 12 Year Old Highland Pure Malt is a blended malt from the 1990s, bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle. Pure malt was the older term for the style, meaning a blend of single malts from several distilleries with no grain whisky.
It was produced by Angus McKay & Co under Burn Stewart & Co for Lucas Bols.
The nose has medicinal notes and sherry salt, with light cake, prunes and dried fruit. The palate is sherry-forward with a soft, sweet start, dark fruit, wood spice and light saltiness. The finish is medium, with lingering prune, oak and a faint dry spice.
