This is the first official release of Ardbeg 10, an Islay single malt bottled in 2001 in a 70cl bottle. It appeared soon after Glenmorangie took over the distillery, which had closed for a period beforehand.
It was bottled at 46% without chill filtration and has a light hay colour.
The nose combines peat, smoke, honey, vanilla and tar with light fruit and spice. The palate is heavily peaty and smoky, with earthy notes, citrus zest, herbs and black pepper. The finish is medium, with a little heat, peat smoke, light fruit and honey sweetness, and a lingering pepper spice.
