Ardbeg An Oa is an Islay single malt named after the Oa peninsula, home to the distillery, south-east of Port Ellen. It is bottled at 46.6% ABV without chill-filtration, in a 70cl bottle.
The malt is married in Ardbeg's new Gathering Vat, built from French oak, from whisky aged in Pedro Ximenez sherry casks, charred virgin oak casks and ex-bourbon casks.
The nose is round and smoky, with caramel, aniseed and dates. The palate is creamy, with caramel sweetness, milk chocolate, orange, smoked tea leaves and gentle spice. The finish is long, with aniseed, American walnut and faint, distant smoke.
