Ardbeg – Ardcore

Ardbeg Ardcore is a punk-inspired limited edition single malt from the Islay distillery Ardbeg. It is made with extremely roasted black malt, an unusual choice in single malt whisky, and it is non-chill filtered. The black malt gives a profile of roasted grain, aniseed, charred oak and dark chocolate. The nose opens with strong smoke and charcoal, then aniseed, liquorice and dark espresso, with burnt sugar and earthy notes. On the palate it is full and firm, with roasted bitterness, dark chocolate, toasted nuts and pepper. The finish is long, dry and dark, with burnt wood, ash, strong liquorice and a little peat smoke.
