Ardbeg Auriverdes is a limited edition Islay single malt bottled at 49.9% and non-chill-filtered. It was matured in American oak casks with specially toasted lids.
The name joins auri (gold) and verdes (green), a nod to Ardbeg's golden whisky and green bottle, and to Brazil, host of the 2014 FIFA World Cup, the year of its release.
It is golden in the glass. The nose is heavy with tar, herbs and a hint of mocha. The palate shows freshly ground coffee, honey-glazed ham, liquorice, biscuit cake and white pepper, balancing sweet and salty notes. The finish is long and smoky, with a touch of vanilla from the cask.
