An Islay single malt released ahead of the online Ardbeg Day celebration on 30th May 2020, and the first black bottle Ardbeg has produced. It is bottled at 46% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
The whisky was matured in Pinot Noir wine casks from New Zealand. The name nods to the country's sheep.
The nose combines baked fruit pudding, cedar wood and cigar box, with oak tannins, truffle and smoky jam tart. Water brings out bitter cherry, a zesty note and violets. The palate is velvety, with aniseed, soot, cherries, strawberries, apricots and pears, then crumbly pastry, dark chocolate, coffee and almonds. The finish is long and sooty.
