Ardbeg – Corryvreckan (57.1%)

Ardbeg Corryvreckan is an Islay single malt bottled at 57.1% ABV and not chill-filtered. It is named after the whirlpool north of Islay, and it carries the turfy smoke and sea-spray character of a heavily peated Ardbeg, from a distillery established in 1815. The nose brings tarry ropes, creosote and linseed oil. On the palate there is peppered steak with a tang of seaweed, followed by black tarry espresso and rich melted dark fruits. The finish is long and powerful, with tarry coffee, chocolate-coated cherries and hot pepper sauce.
