Ardbeg Wee Beastie is a five-year-old Islay single malt, bottled at 47.4% ABV in a 75cl bottle. It was launched in April 2020 as a permanent addition to Ardbeg's Ultimate Range.
The spirit matured in ex-bourbon barrels and Oloroso sherry butts and is non-chill-filtered. It shows the peat bog, tar and sea air of the Ardbeg style while still young.
The notes describe cracked black pepper, sappy pine resin and a sharp tang of smoke on the nose. The palate offers chocolate, creosote, tar and savoury meats, followed by a long, salty, mouth-coating finish.
