This is a single malt from Ardmore, a Highlands distillery better known for a robust, smoky style. Wilson & Morgan selected it as a Barrel Selection bottling, distilled in 2010 and bottled in 2022 at 46% in a 70cl bottle. It was matured in an Islay cask.
The peat is far more restrained here than the distillery's reputation suggests, which makes for a surprisingly gentle dram.
The nose combines sweet coastal fruit with heather, charred oak, pine needles and damp forest. On the palate, soft mineral notes and dried fruit give way to waxy, creamy citrus, with a balanced, fruity finish.
