Bholsa is a release from Ardnahoe Distillery on Islay. It matured largely in Oloroso sherry casks and is bottled at 50%, without chill-filtering. The nose opens with smoke, followed by spice, sweet and fresh red fruit, malt, nuts and chocolate. On the palate smoke, peat and ashes lead, softened by the sherry maturation with fruit, dried fruit, and again nuts and chocolate. The finish puts the emphasis on smoke, tobacco and berries.
