Ardnamurchan AD/ Madeira Cask Release is a Highland single malt from the distillery on the remote western coast, part of the AD/ series that explores different woods and styles of maturation. It is made from a mix of roughly 60% unpeated and 40% peated spirit, matured in ex-bourbon casks and then finished for two years in casks that held Madeira. It is bottled at 52% ABV in a 70cl bottle, is non-chill-filtered and has natural colour. About 19,000 bottles were released.
The nose has cocoa powder, stewed plums, sugared almonds, fresh bread and red currants. The palate brings cinnamon sweets, cedar, mixed nuts and caramelised apple. The finish is medium in weight, long and slightly dusty.
