Ardnamurchan – Fish Shop 5 Year Old Single Malt (70cl, 46.8%)

This is a five-year-old single malt Scotch whisky selected for Fish Shop in Ballater by Ardnamurchan Distillery. It is bottled at 46.8% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It matured in a combination of ex-sherry casks, which add tannic depth, and ex-bourbon casks, which bring lighter vanilla notes. It is bottled in its natural colour. The spirit was distilled a few hundred metres from Loch Sunart, and the saline air around the warehouses and the mineral-rich water are credited with giving it a natural saltiness. On the palate it is saline, with lighter citrus notes.
