This is the 2019 bottling of Arran 18 Year Old, a single malt from the Lochranza distillery on the Isle of Arran. It brings together long-matured whisky from bourbon and sherry casks and is bottled at 46%, without chill-filtration or added colour.
Garden fruit and vanilla sit alongside caramelised orange, baked peach, dark chocolate and mature oak spice. Maple syrup and chocolate add weight, while toasted oak and ginger bring spice and coffee a more bitter note.
The nose has sweet garden fruit, syrup and toasted oak, with dark dried fruit, chocolate and a hint of tobacco. The finish is long, fruity and spicy, and the oak turns drier at the end.
