Arran Amarone Cask Finish (50%)

This is an Arran single malt finished in Amarone wine casks, from Isle of Arran Distillers on the Isle of Arran, Scotland. It is bottled at 50% ABV and is non-chill-filtered. The whisky is first matured in ex-bourbon oak casks, then moved into barrels that held Amarone from Italy's Veneto. The wine finish gives it red hues and a fruity, creamy character, while a malt base remains underneath. The nose opens with poached pear, honey and toasted almonds, then red berries, vanilla and light oak spice. The palate is creamy, with dark chocolate, cherry, dried strawberry, Turkish delight and raisin. The finish is medium to long, with dried red fruit, cocoa, oak spice and a touch of clove or cinnamon.
