Arran – Machrie Moor 10 Year Old Peated (70cl, 46%)

Machrie Moor 10 Year Old is a peated single malt from the Lochranza distillery on the Isle of Arran. The malt is peated to 20 ppm, and the whisky matured for ten years entirely in first-fill bourbon casks. It is bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle, without chill-filtering or added colour. The name refers to the prehistoric stone circles of Machrie Moor on Arran. On the nose, sweet spice and ripe citrus sit beside strong peat smoke, with apple and honey. The palate is creamy, warming and rich, with orchard fruit, vanilla and malty sweetness, and the sweet peat smoke grows as it goes. The finish is long and warming, with sweet peat, citrus, vanilla, gentle oak and a little pepper.
