Arran – Port Cask Finish Single Malt (70cl)

This is a single malt from Arran, finished in port wine casks, in a 70cl bottle. The whisky first matured in traditional oak casks, then spent a period of secondary maturation in casks from an artisan producer of Portuguese port. The aim was a balance between the port casks and the sweet, fruity character of the Arran malt. The nose combines vanilla spice and ripe citrus with dried fruits and nuttiness. The palate has layers of fruit and spice, with cinnamon-baked apple, a hint of strawberry jam, warming barley and sweet pear. The finish carries a punch, with Arran's barley sweetness running through it.
