Arran – Sauternes Cask Finish Single Malt (70cl)

This is a single malt from Arran, finished in Sauternes wine casks. The whisky first matured in traditional oak casks, then spent a period of secondary maturation in casks from an artisan Sauternes producer in Bordeaux. The aim was a balance between the wine casks and the sweet, fruity character of the Arran malt. It comes in a 70cl bottle. On the nose there is honeysuckle, melon and marzipan with a spicy edge. The palate is rich with honey, a zesty lift, then spice and a salty tang. With time, vanilla and sultana come forward, followed by toasted oak. The finish pairs Sauternes sweetness with the Arran malt.
