A 20 year old Lowland single malt from Auchentoshan, distilled in 2003 and bottled by the Scotch Malt Whisky Society as cask 5.132, Honey Buns. It comes from a single first-fill ex-bourbon barrel and gave 172 bottles. Auchentoshan is the only Scottish distillery that uses triple distillation exclusively.
The nose is fresh and sweet, with mint, fir and lemongrass, then vintage cherry lip candies and floral notes. The palate is rich and creamy, like honey spread on sweet bread, with French pear tart and simmered apple juice. The finish recalls a cherry pine pudding.
