This is an official Auchentoshan bottling of a 29 year old Lowland single malt, distilled in 1988 and finished in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. It is bottled at 49.7% in a 70cl bottle.
Auchentoshan is triple-distilled, and the distillery describes this as central to its smoother, fruit-forward style. Here that style meets the sweetness of the PX finish.
The nose brings stewed plums, red berries, cooked nectarines, maraschino cherry liqueur, toffee, rose petals, cinnamon and scented wood. On the palate come raisins, prunes, caramelised figs, Muscat grapes, dark chocolate and Seville orange. The finish is long and sweet, with orange, chestnuts and sultanas.
