Auchentoshan American Oak is a Lowland single malt from a distillery on the edge of Glasgow, working since 1823. It is triple distilled and bottled at 40% (80 proof) in a 750ml bottle, with no age statement.
The spirit is matured entirely in first and second fill bourbon casks, which add vanilla and toasted coconut. It has no peat smoke and no sherry influence.
The colour is bright gold. The nose is bourbon cask vanilla and toasted coconut over lemon and orange zest. The palate is soft and creamy, with vanilla custard, coconut, ripe white peach and a touch of toffee. The finish is crisp and clean, with candied grapefruit peel and a gentle oak spice.
