Auchentoshan – Three Wood (40%)

Auchentoshan Three Wood is a 12 year old Lowland single malt bottled at 40%. Auchentoshan is described as the last Lowland single malt to be triple distilled. The name refers to its three casks: ten years in ex-bourbon barrels, then two years in Oloroso sherry casks, and a final six months in sweet Pedro Ximenez sherry casks. The nose is sweet, with candied sugar, plum and blackcurrant. The palate is very mild and slightly oily, with an elegant sherry sweetness and nutty, fruit-led flavours lifted by lemon, hazelnut and cinnamon. The finish is zesty and freshly fruity, leaving a lingering sweetness.
