Auchentoshan – Virgin Oak

Auchentoshan Virgin Oak is a triple-distilled Lowland single malt and the distillery's first release matured only in virgin North American white oak casks. The wood is the kind normally used for straight bourbon. Three small batches of the whisky were chosen for this bottling. The colour is a deep sienna orange. The nose offers cinnamon, nutmeg, toasted vanilla and candied orange, with fruitcake, oak, sultanas and almonds appearing when water is added. The palate brings spiced apple, soft caramel chocolate, maple syrup and cedar spice, and the finish is warm with spicy orange and brown sugar.
