Auchroisk – 2009 13 Year Old Gordon & MacPhail Connoisseurs Choice Côte Rôtie Wood Finish (70cl, 45%)

A 13-year-old Auchroisk distilled in 2009 and bottled in 2022 by Gordon & MacPhail for the Connoisseurs Choice series. It is a Speyside single malt at 45% in a 70cl bottle, without colouring or chill filtration. The whisky was first filled into refill bourbon barrels. For the last two years of maturation it was reracked into red wine casks that once held Côte Rôtie, the Rhône red generally made from 100% Syrah. The nose is rich vanilla fudge with ripe redcurrant and strawberry liquorice. The palate is sweet summer fruit with clementine and cinnamon, and the finish is medium with a fresh peppermint edge.
