This Auchroisk single malt comes from the Cask Craft Collection. Murray McDavid finished it in bourbon quarter casks from the Koval Distillery and bottled it as Cask Craft Batch 2 (BBN-02). The small cask format brings more contact between spirit and wood.
It is bottled at 44.5% in a 70cl bottle, non-chill-filtered and with no added colour.
The nose is sweet malt, apple, light citrus and ripe pineapple, with a hint of mixed nuts. The palate opens sweet and creamy with vanilla, caramel, crisp apple and ripe mango, then turns lightly bitter, nutty and herbal, with growing pepper. The medium finish starts with honeyed cereal and tropical fruit before bitter, woody and peppery notes take over.
