This is a 13 year old Aultmore single malt, distilled in 2009 and bottled in 2022 at 50% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It was finished in a red wine barrique.
The nose is sweet without being heavy, with strawberry tart, cranberry sauce, cinnamon and maple syrup, plus some pineapple and fermenting plums. The distillate stays clear behind the red wine influence.
On the palate come soft red fruits, cranberry and strawberry, with touches of wood spice, incense and gentle oak, and a cinnamon-spiced cranberry compote. The finish is long and slightly dry, with building spice and soft red berries.
