Ballantine's 17 Year Old is a blended Scotch whisky made from malt and grain whiskies aged for at least 17 years. This version is bottled at 43% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
Compared with the classic presentation, the higher strength is said to bring more body, depth and aroma, with a firmer structure on the palate.
The nose is described as honey, beeswax, ripe pear and apple, with vanilla and toasted oak. The palate is round and creamy, with toffee, almonds, sweet spice and a faint saltiness. The finish is long and lightly dry, with spiced oak, dried fruit and caramel.
