Ballantine's 30 Year Old is an aged blended Scotch whisky from the Ballantine's brand, produced in Dumbarton. The name goes back to George Ballantine, who opened a wines and spirits business in Glasgow in 1865 and created his own blends.
It is full-bodied and rich, with oak spice, dried fruits and nuts, dark chocolate, treacle and hints of smoke. The balance between spice and sweetness is a feature, and a little water softens the spices.
