This is a single cask Ballechin, the peated spirit made at Edradour, bottled by Signatory Vintage at 60.2% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It was selected for Whisky Live Singapore 2019.
The spirit was distilled on 9th February 2007 and bottled in August 2019. It was finished for 25 months in a 1965 Karuizawa cask, and 444 bottles were drawn from cask 901.
The nose has stove-like coal smoke, curry, mashed Jerusalem artichoke and a balanced leather and ginger note. The palate is heavily smoked and peppery, with a meaty side, a touch of soap, grapefruit and grey pepper. The finish is fairly long, with tobacco, earthy pu-erh tea, cloves and a lemony aftertaste.
