This Ballechin was distilled in 2008 and bottled in 2026 by Signatory Vintage for its Cask Strength Collection, at 57.9% ABV. It is a 17 year old single malt that spent its whole maturation in a first fill Ruby Port hogshead, and only 239 bottles were filled.
The bottling pairs marked peat smoke with a strong port wine influence.
The nose offers dark berries and ripe cherries with peat smoke, then honey, roasted nuts and a hint of damp oak. On the palate there are blackberries, cassis and walnuts alongside smoke, a sweetness like barbecued meat, spice and dark chocolate. The finish is very long, with dark cocoa, sweet spice and dry oak.
