First-fill bourbon barrel
A single cask Ballechin, the peated single malt from a Highland distillery founded in 1825. This one spent nine years in a first-fill bourbon barrel, cask 492, and was bottled at 58.4% in a 70cl bottle. Only 225 bottles were filled. Ballechin has a phenol content of 50 ppm, and the peat is far from subdued after nine years in the barrel. The nose combines rich peat and smoked lard with candied pear and Mirabelle plum, later turning to iris butter, violet, a little salinity, cardamom and clove. The palate has herbaceous peat, camphor, chocolate and wildflowers. The finish is long, with creamy vanilla and still-hot ash, refreshed by aniseed and menthol.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
