This is a 14 year old Balmenach, an independent bottling for Van Wees, in a 70cl bottle. It was distilled on 9 October 2008 and bottled on 10 July 2023 at a cask strength of 58.4% abv. Only 673 bottles were filled.
The whisky was matured for 14 years, with a finish in a first fill Oloroso sherry butt.
The nose is rich with sherry, mineral notes, berries, grapes, almond and chocolate. The palate opens lively, with sweet and spicy notes alongside apple, chocolate, vanilla, coffee, nuts and ripe fruit. The finish is warm, with oak, spice and cherries.
