A single cask Balmenach from Speyside, distilled in 2011 and bottled in 2023 at 12 years old by Berry Bros & Rudd. It comes in a 70cl bottle at 54.4% ABV, without colouring or chill filtration.
The whisky matured in a single hogshead that gave 288 bottles. Balmenach is one of only a handful of distilleries still using worm tub condensers, and this bottling shows the spirit at its full natural strength.
The nose opens with zesty, grassy notes, then green fruits and orange. The palate is citrusy, with tangy Granny Smith apples and a little spirit sulphur. The finish brings grilled lime, barley sweets and a touch of hay.
