This is a single cask Balmenach, a 12-year-old Speyside single malt distilled in 2012 and bottled in 2024 by the Ayrshire-based independent bottler A. D. Rattray for its Cask Collection series. It is bottled without colouring or chill filtration.
It came from cask 5, a bourbon hogshead that filled 229 bottles at a cask strength of 56.7%, in a 70cl bottle.
Balmenach is a weighty, meaty spirit, in part because the distillery condenses its make in worm tubs. Its owners, Inver House, keep almost all of its spirit for their blended whiskies.
